Zero Hour - DARK RECIEVER
9/10
I really have to say, this was one of the hardest albums to review...
It's hard to keep focus, and get a good listen to this album. And yes sometimes it's sounds like your cd is stuck, don't worry that just part of their songs.
A lot of you will hear the same things that sound like their former albums though, there's happening so much to keep track of. I've listened to all their albums, and I have to say this album is somewhat like...yes their first album, though this time more symphonic and riff oriented. I really like the 7-string sound on this album. Of course there is that insane chromatic \ scale \ dissonant riffing going on, and the doubling by bass and guitar. That's just great, that makes them sound apart.
I also like the sound of their front man, Chris Salinas former frontman on Power of Omens, his vocals really fits this kind of music.
The songs are still a strange bunch to me, though i have to say it's getting less hard on the ears, they moved on to making the songs a lot more melodic, and still keeping the tech things right in there.
The best thing I can recommend, is to pick this album up and listen for yourself, it should be in every prog.metaler's cd collection.
