MEGADETH: Drum Tracks For New Album Completed
User Rating: / 0
Sunday, 30 April 2006

MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine and drummer Shawn Drover have both posted separate messages in the

"Forums" section of the band's official web site:

Dave Mustaine: "Just checking in to say things are progressing, and I had the great pleasure of

having Brian Tatler of DIAMOND HEAD and his family come to the studio for the day and seeing one

of my favorite guitarists for a friendly day together in the studio was super inspiring for me.

"Please don't read into this that Brian is on the record, because he is busy preparing his own

new record, and he just came to visit.

"Other than watching '24' episodes (thank you) and having to work, I am having a good time in the

studio; excluding some cuts and bruises we are all doing great.

"G2 [Gigantour 2] info to come next month!!!"

Shawn Drover: "As I write this, I have completed the drum tracks for the new MEGADETH record,

which I have to say I am pleased with the results. I had one of John Bonham's drum kits (YES, you

did read that correctly) incorporated in with my drum set which made for some interesting drum

passages in certain songs. All in all, I had a good time doing these drum tracks.

"Brian Tatler from DIAMOND HEAD dropped by the studio today, which was a nice suprise — he is

such a great guy, as are all the guys in DH, so it was great to see him again. We played him one

of the new tunes, to which he gave his nod of approval — a good sign in my book.

"This entire studio adventure here in rural England has been a real positive experience for all

of us. We are all in good spirits and are certainly enjoying the creative process that is the

next MEGADETH record."

MEGADETH are recording the follow-up to 2004's "The System Has Failed" with producer Jeff

Balding. The recording sessions are being filmed by director Michael Sarna (who directed the

band's "Of Mice And Men" video) and exclusive clips will be available to MEGADETH Fan Club

members.

In a recent interview with About.com, MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine stated about the upcoming

CD, "We're going to take a different approach to this record. I'm not going to say any more than

that. I know what we're capable of doing. 'The System Has Failed' was a great comeback record,

and I think this is going to continue claiming new fans and reintroducing ourselves to some old

fans who may have gone to listening to other music."

MEGADETH's last CD, "The System Has Failed", has sold more than 175,000 copies in the United

States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The group, who were most recently signed to Sanctuary

Records, were joined by bassist James Lomenzo (ex-BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, WHITE LION) in February

following the departure of James MacDonough (ex-ICED EARTH).

REDEMPTION: New Album Update
User Rating: / 0
Sunday, 30 April 2006

REDEMPTION's primary songwriter and guitarist/keyboardist Nicolas van Dyk has issued the following update on the progress of the recording sessions for the band's new album, entitled "The Origins of Ruin":

"We can see the light at the end of the tunnel and we're just about finished tracking, with only a few vocal parts, a couple of guitar solos and a bit of orchestration remaining to be finished. We hope to be done in the next two weeks...and then we need to schedule mixing in Germany with Tommy [Newton; UFO, CONCEPTION, HELLOWEEN, ARK, ELEGY]. In the meantime, we'll be working again with Travis Smith on some artwork.

"We don't have a finished track listing, but the songs are as follows:

01. The Suffocating Silence
02. Bleed Me Dry
03. The Death of Faith & Reason
04. Memory
05. The Origins of Ruin
06. Man of Glass
07. Blinded
08. Used to Be
09. Fall on You

"In addition, we have two covers which will find their way as bonus tracks: UFO's 'Love to Love', and TORI AMOS' 'Precious Things', which features the outstanding vocalist Anna Kristina, a well-known performer from San Francisco with a broad list of session and live credits."

REDEMPTION is:

Ray Alder - Vocals
Nick van Dyk - Guitar and Keys
Bernie Versailles - Guitar
Sean Andrews - Bass
Chris Quirarte - Drums

REDEMPTION's sophomore album, "The Fullness of Time", which also featured FATES WARNING frontman Ray Alder, was released last June via Sensory Records. Alder was a guest musician for one track on REDEMPTION's 2003 self-titled debut (Sensory), and he joined the group on-stage at Atlanta's ProgPower festival in September of that year to perform this song. Alder and van Dyk also collaborated previously on a track on the first ENGINE CD.

Friday, 28 April 2006

HAMMERFALL guitarist Oscar Dronjak has posted the following message on his official blog:

"We're looking at another weekend of rehearsals, and I am excited! I completed the eighth song

for the album a few days ago, and am hard at work finishing one more before the rehearsal starts.

I'll keep the remaining songtitles under wraps for now as they are a bit uncertain still, but

here are some titles for you: 'Dark Wings, Dark Words', 'Carved In Stone', 'Titan', 'Shadow

Empire', 'Threshold' and 'Rebel Inside'."

HAMMERFALL are expected to enter the studio this summer to begin recording their new album for an

October 2006 release. The band's latest CD, "Chapter V: Unbent, Unbowed, Unbroken", was released

in March 2005 via Nuclear Blast Records. The follow-up to 2002's "Crimson Thunder" was produced

and mixed by Charlie Bauernfeind (BLIND GUARDIAN, HELLOWEEN).

INTO ETERNITY: New Album To Be Mixed By ANDY SNEAP

Friday, 28 April 2006

Canada's technically progressive death metal band INTO ETERNITY will head out for three upcoming

East Coast dates before recording the follow up to 2004's "Buried In Oblivion". Commenting on the

band's upcoming plans, guitarist/vocalist Tim Roth said, "Things are starting back up for us.

First up, we will play three shows in the U.S. starting with the New England Metal And Hardcore

Festival Sunday, April 30. May 1 we are in New York City and May 2 in Springfield, VA, both dates

opening for GAMMA RAY. Hopefully we will get a chance to say hello to you all at these upcoming

dates. As soon as we return to Canada we continue pre-production for album number four. Once

again we will be recording in our hometown Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada at Touchwood Studios. We

have original drummer Jim Austin with us on the new record and he's has been doing a great job in

rehearsals.

"There will be one recording change with this album, for the first time we are going to send the

album out to be mixed. Andy Sneap (NEVERMORE, ARCH ENEMY) will be handling the record's final

mix. We are fans of Andy's work and know he is the right man. This final step ensures that this

will be our best sounding effort to date."

INTO ETERNITY spent 2005 touring North America supporting the release on no fewer than six

continent-spanning tours. Look for the band to tour extensively in support of the new album late

this year.

KAMELOT Continuing Work On Live DVD, Planning Live Appearances
User Rating: / 0
Friday, 28 April 2006

American/Norwegian melodic metallers KAMELOT are continuing to work on their first DVD, "One Cold

Winter's Night", which was shot in Oslo this past February. "There is a lot of editing for our

director Patric [Ulleaus]. We have 18 cameras on this shoot and the concert was nearly 2 hours

long," stated vocalist Khan. The disc will include special guest appearances by Simone Simons

(EPICA), Sascha Paeth and Snowy Shaw (ex-KING DIAMOND, DREAM EVIL), plus many others.

KAMELOT will return to Holland for two shows this summer — Waldrock festival in Burgum, the

Netherlands on July 1 and a headlining show at the Plato in Helmond (near Eindhoven). Many fans

will be travelling from outside of Holland for this concert and the band plan a special

meet-and-greet for this show.

In other news, KMI Entertainment and KAMELOT are working on the band's first trek to China. "We

have been contacted by a few promoters in Hong Kong and we hope to arrange KAMELOT's unique live

show," stated KMI's Tim Norwood.

Also on the KAMELOT-related front, the first-ever KAMELOT anthology, "Lunar Sanctum", will be

released by Sanctuary Records. It will feature some classics as well as unreleased live cuts from

the band's last concerts in Tokyo.

KAMELOT's latest CD, "The Black Halo", came out in March 2005 via SPV Records.
